Meet Jen
My introduction to yoga happened when I first took a yoga class for credit as a college student. Years later, during 2020, I started a daily practice of at-home yoga when quarantine procedures halted gym involvement. My intentions were initially to continue physical care for my body through strengthening and stretching, however my practice has grown to become an integral part of both my physical and emotional self-care. Much of my practice each day is guided by what my mind and body are telling me they need, and I use that information to care for myself.
I have completed yoga teacher training (YTT-200). My teaching is a mix of hatha, vinyasa flow, and trauma-informed styles of yoga. I offer a pick-your-path approach, allowing you to participate however you feel best, honoring your own body and needs. My hope is to offer a safe space to explore and invest in self-awareness for the mind and the body.
FAQs
What is Trauma-Informed Yoga?
Trauma-informed yoga is designed as a method to safely reconnect with your body, which is different from yoga therapy (a clinical approach for direct and personal treatment of trauma). Research continues to support the practice of yoga in fostering nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, and a release of tension from the body. It does this through the integration of physical movement, breath work, and mindfulness.
