What is Executive Functioning?

Executive functioning is a broad set of many skills that help us manage daily life, including planning, prioritizing, organizing, focusing, and managing time.

While people with an ADHD diagnosis are most often identified with executive functioning challenges, we believe that EVERYONE can benefit from strengthening these skills.

What is Executive Function Coaching?

Executive functioning coaching focuses on practical improvements in areas like time management, efficiency, focus, and memory. The coaching process emphasizes embracing strengths and building confidence in your abilities.

Our neurodivergent-affirming coaches provide guidance while holding you accountable to take action toward the goals YOU set for yourself.

Your goals might include:

  • Tracking assignments, deadlines, or meetings

  • Breaking large projects (like research papers or work projects) into smaller steps

  • Starting tasks on time and reducing procrastination

  • Limiting distractions and staying focused longer

  • Estimating how long tasks will take more accurately

  • Organizing desks, backpacks, or digital files

Coaching can be done in-person or online, which we’ve found particularly convenient for college students.

We also offer Executive Functioning Groups where members can share resources, learn new skills together, build community, and access coaching in a more affordable format.

Do I Need an ADHD Diagnosis to Start Coaching?

No, you do not need an ADHD diagnosis to work with a Pittsburgh Executive Functioning coach.

Teenagers, college students and adults who want to achieve specific goals often find coaching helpful because it combines support, structure, and accountability.
