When listening to music our attention is diverted away from the fatigue we experience during a physical activity. Research supports when we listen to upbeat music, we experience improvements in our exercise performance by lowering anger, depression, and fatigue significantly!!! This is also why certain music is played at athletic events. The athletes and audience experience improved mood, increased energy and we develop memories which are partnered with the music.
